Name: Monique McKeever

Club: Gamma Rho

Year: Sophomore

Hometown: Edmond, OK

Major: Business Administration and minor in Family Science

Sport: Basketball B Team

Tuesday, January 14, 2020: On the girls’ side of the bracket, basketball season kicked off with B team competition. In Gamma Rho’s first game of the season, McKeever played aggressively, scoring and defending well to give Gamma the 10 point win over the Freshmen, 20-10.

Q: What do you enjoy about playing intramurals?

A: “I enjoy intramurals because I get to continue playing the sports I love after high school in a fun and less stressful environment.”

Q: Why do you enjoy playing basketball?

A: “I love how fast paced basketball is, and how everyone on the court can contribute to the game. It is truly a team sport. In last week’s game, everyone contributed whether it was on offense, defense, or supporting the team.”

Q: What is your favorite memory from participating in intramurals with your club?

A:  “My favorite thing about playing intramurals with Gamma Rho is that you know you will always have people there to watch and support you. I loved how at the game last week during every timeout they were so loud and encouraging.”

Intramural Male Athlete of the Week

Name: Zabdiel Lopez-Pagan

Club: Delta Gamma Sigma

Year: Junior

Hometown: Dallas, TX

Major: Sports Management

Sport: Basketball A Team

Wednesday, January 15, 2020: In the second night of intramural basketball and the first night of A team competition, Delta Gamma Sigma played Kappa Sigma Tau. Delta, the reigning basketball champions, beat Kappa by 32 points, 65-33. Lopez-Pagan scored several exciting lay-ups and fast break opportunities to ignite the crowd and give Delta the strong victory. He finished with 17 points and five steals.

Q: What do you enjoy about playing intramurals?

A: “I like scoring on everyone that thinks they can guard me.”

Q: Why do you enjoy playing basketball?

A: “I grew up playing basketball and is one of the reasons I was introduced to Oklahoma Christian.”

Q: Why did you want to play basketball intramurals?

A: “I just want to make sure our basketball team goes for the ship.”
