Theta Theta Theta
Beating the defending champions is impressive, but having depth against a team who only plays five athletes leaves an asterisk on the win. So when Allie Neilson led Theta to beat Lambda, a team with superior depth and elite, top-end talent, Theta legitimized themselves as contenders in the A league. Neilson is this week’s Intramural Athlete of the Week, and the first person to win the award twice in one school year since its revival last September. Her overtime three-pointer is what took the lead and proved Theta can run with anyone this basketball season.
1. What is it like out there on the court?
It’s so much fun being with my girlies. I love playing with them, and we really wanted this. Some of us have been playing together since freshman year, and you stick with the girls you got and work with it.
2. It is one thing to beat a team when you have the legs to outrun them. It is another thing to win when you are the team lacking roster depth. What was it like towards the end of the game when fatigue was starting to set in?
Lambda has a great aggressive and defensive team. It was frustrating, but we pulled it out in the end. Former athlete of the week Hanna Hodge hit the game-tying three to force overtime, and I got us the lead in overtime. I could not have asked for a better ending.
3. You are one win away from locking up the one seed in playoffs. Tell me what is going through your head.
The freshmen are young, and just got out of varsity. So we got to go out there and outsmart them I guess. Whatever we can do to win.

Delta Gamma Sigma
After missing the first game against Chi, Carson Thompson came out firing on all cylinders. Thompson scored over 25 points during the game against the freshmen, earning him the title of Intramural Athlete of the Week for this week. With one game left in the regular season for Delta, expect Thompson to step it up once again.
1. What is it like out there, playing alongside your brothers?
It’s a fun time. I enjoy playing sports, and getting to do it with some of my closest buddies makes it even better.
2. What was it like going out against these guys who had just come off their varsity high school seasons?
It was super fun. They are so good, especially Landon Parker.
3. You have got one more game left against Kappa. What are your thoughts about that game?
We’re going to have to play better than we did today, that’s for sure. They’re a good team with a lot of good players, so we have just got to keep getting better.
