The 2015-2016 Lady Eagles basketball team holds the new school record for most points in a single game after a 123-76 handling of St. Gregory’s University on Monday.

McKenzie Stanford and Addy Clift led the way with 22 points each, along with four others in double figures. Sydney Hill had 14, followed by Sarah Parker with 13, Aisha Martin with 11 and Hope Dawkins added 10 with four blocks.

The game was much needed change for the team, senior guard Hill said. “We haven’t been playing our best and haven’t been shooting as well as we need to be,” Hill said. “So tonight was a good confidence boost for everyone as we played really well and, more importantly, shot the ball really well. It was good for a bunch of us to see the ball go in the basket quite a few times.”

Oklahoma Christian University recorded 40 first-quarter points and 75 points by the halfway point. St. Gregory’s Cavaliers had 76 after the final buzzer.

The Cavaliers’ Denisha Lundy led St. Gregory’s with 20, followed by Kylee Tatum with 17.

Hill said games like Monday night add confidence. “It was also good for our team’s morale to be able to play a game as fun as this one,” Hill said. “It was awesome to see all those shots go in and see how many points we scored.”

The Lady Eagles will use this game as momentum for upcoming games, Hill said.

The next game for the Lady Eagles will be Thursday, Dec. 3 when they travel to Denton, Texas to play Texas Woman’s University.
