To celebrate the beginning of the holiday season, Oklahoma Christian University held its annual Lighting of the Commons last night, Nov. 28, complete with fireworks, hot cocoa, a visit from Santa Claus and a Christmas market.
For her 18 years of service to Oklahoma Christian University, as well as her dedication to students and staff on campus, Lois Hill received the “Honorary Alumna” award at this year’s annual homecoming alumni banquet.
A generous endowment fund started by the Winkler and Smith families will set college students up for success and honor the legacy of alumna, Donna Winkler Smith.
Homecoming nominations annually flood students’ inboxes in search of candidates for the homecoming court. Only seniors are eligible for the crown, but other grade levels and social clubs participate as representatives in the homecoming court.
In hopes for a more unified homecoming experience, social clubs will only have three mandatory check-in events; the men’s basketball game, women’s basketball game, and the pep rally.
Finding a support group can appear difficult, especially since most of the physically sick are “embarrassed” by their illness. Students like me feel like they are walking on a tightrope between embracing their illness and completely concealing it.
