A Letter Farewell From Outgoing SGA President Madison Stephens

My years here at Oklahoma Christian University have been filled with such amazing people and an even better education. I am so lucky I had the opportunity to lead as Student Government Association (SGA) President during my senior year here.

My experience in SGA has been such a blessing. The academic year of 2023-2024 has flown by and SGA has done amazing things throughout it. My executive officer team — Katie, Josh, and Delaney — have done a wonderful job along with our SGA committees.

The Campus Spirit committee increased attendance by about 75 people at athletics events like Pack the PAC. In the fall, our Spiritual Life committee planned the campus-wide homecoming devotional.

The SGA Constitution received revisions from the Constitution committee. Our Campus Improvements committee installed much-needed charging stations in the Brew and is currently implementing a walking desk and a bike desk in the library.

The Academic committee planned professor appreciation. The Activities committee hosted events such as our famous free food truck days. And lastly, the Multicultural committee worked with student organizations like BSU (Black Student Union), LASO (Latin American Student Organization) and ISC (International Student Council) to host events for the student body to promote diversity.

Several others have contributed to the work of SGA this year. First, I would like to thank our Provost, Dr. Starr, for being so positive and encouraging. Dr. Starr is always ready for an SGA related meeting and is so receptive to student ideas and concerns.

Second, I would like to thank our President, Dr. Jones, for listening to students and faculty. Additionally, I would like to thank our dedicated SGA reporter, Meredith Madison, for consistently attending and reporting on SGA meetings. Thank you for all your hard work, Meredith!

I am so grateful for the years I have spent in SGA and everything this organization does for Oklahoma Christian students. Thank you, Oklahoma Christian, for electing me as your student body president and allowing me to represent you this year.

To my seniors, I know you will do amazing things and have such an amazing support system here at Oklahoma Christian. To the freshmen, sophomores and juniors, I hope you also have the opportunity to be involved in SGA.

Overall, I am so proud of the work SGA has done this year, and I am so glad for each of you who chose to be a part of the wonderful community that is this school. It has been an honor to be a part of this organization and to be a student here at Oklahoma Christian.
