Entertainment Update: jazz, Dracula and an intern hitting theaters

Comedy, family, horror and adventure are what fill the shows for the upcoming week.

For one night only, David Benoit will be at the Civic Center on Sept. 25 as a part of the second annual Oklahoma City Jazz Festival, presented by the Thelma Gaylord Performing Arts Theatre.

Benoit is a jazz pianist whose works include “This Side Up,” “Freedom at Midnight” and the Grammy nominated, “Every Step of the Way.” His scores for films include “The Stars Fell on Henrietta” and “The Christmas Tree.”

There will be a special $5 discount for students with a valid ID by purchasing in person at T.H.E. Box Offices. The performance starts at 8 p.m.

Two frustrated London housewives take a vacation in Italy for a trip away from their husbands. When the different women meet they must share the cost and experience in “Enchanted April.”

“Enchanted April” will be performed at the Poteet Theatre Sept. 25-Oct. 11.

A 70-year-old widower decides to step out of retirement and go back to work in “The Intern.” When he takes the opportunity, he becomes a senior intern at an online fashion site.

The film stars Robert De Niro and Oscar winner Anne Hathaway. Also credited in the cast of the new comedy coming to theatres Sept. 25. is Nat Wolff and “Girls” star Andrew Rannells

The hotel and “Drac pack” are back in the animated “Hotel Transylvania 2.” Dracula and his friends try to bring the monster out of his half human, half vampire grandson in order to keep him from leaving the hotel.

The movie features the vocal talents of Adam Sandler, Selena Gomez, Kevin James and Fran Drescher.

The film “Before I Wake” is about a couple who adopt a child, whose nightmares manifest as he sleeps. To save their new family they must go on a dangerous journey to stop the boy’s dreams and night terrors.

The movie stars Kate Bosworth, Dash Mihok and Annabeth Gish.

Mississippi Grind” is a film about two men who team up on a road trip to the South. Along the way they go through a series of visions of winning back what they lost.

The movie stars Ben Mendelsohn, Ryan Reynolds and Yvonne Landry.

Get ready for a night of gore and horror in “The Green Inferno.” A group of students travel to the amazon to help save the rain forest. When their plane crashes, they will soon discover they are not alone and must escape the terror of the jungle.

“The Green Inferno” stars Lorenza Izzo, Ariel Levy and Aaron Burns.
