Chi Lambda Phi Takes Home First Place in 2024 Spring Sing

EDITOR’S NOTE — MARCH 4 7:00 p.m.

An earlier version of this article said the women and men of Alpha and Beta won faculty favorite. This award was actually given to the Freshmen class.

Spring Sing came to a close on March 2 after four showings of singing and dancing produced by the nine social clubs of Oklahoma Christian University.

Chi Lambda Phi took home the first-place trophy with their performance of “Curious George.” The show, which featured the childhood-favorite duo of monkey George and the man in the yellow hat, carried home the theme of “Let the Good Times Roll,” where clubs picked popular movies to emulate from different decades.

Sophomore Logan Krehbiel recounted his emotions as the awards were presented.

“I was sitting in the aisle and felt like I was gonna puke,” Krehbiel said. “When they said women for second place all of the panic immediately went into adrenaline and we all started shaking until they called our name. That was unlike anything I’ve ever felt before.”

Senior Cole Miller said he was already proud of his club prior to knowing they had won first place.

“First place was amazing and all, but I was already so proud of Chi for all the work that was put into the show before the awards,” Miller said. “I felt more joy performing with them than getting the award.”

As the club members explained their initial thoughts about winning, one of the two directors of the show, Cole Klaassen, shared his takeaway from this moment.

“Doing hard things with people you love is extremely rewarding and will always be rewarding,” Klaassen said. “Winning is epic, but the opportunity to create something we as best friends are so proud of is an incredibly unique experience I feel beyond blessed to be a part of.”

Secondary awards were also given during the final show night, such as best vocals, which was given to the women of Gamma Rho, and audience favorite, which was given to the men and women of Alpha and Beta.
