A week of ogres, Christmas and more – here are the upcoming musicals, plays and movies in Oklahoma.
Spend homecoming weekend with everyone’s favorite ogre, Shrek, and all of the fairytale creatures. When Lord Farquad sends Shrek and Donkey on a quest to save Princess Fiona from her tower, they go on the journey of a lifetime. “The waiting! The waiting! The waiting,” is almost over.
“Shrek-The Musical” will be staged at Oklahoma Christian University on Nov. 5-7.
You’ll shoot your eye out! Based off of the beloved American classic, “A Christmas Story-The Musical” is coming to Oklahoma City.
All Ralphie wants for Christmas is a Red Rider BB Gun and does everything he possibly can to make it happen. This is a comedy filled with Santa, leg lamps and bunny suits mixed with Christmas spirit. Start the first week of November with a bit of Holiday cheer with “A Christmas Story-The Musical” at the Civic Center on Nov. 3-8.
Based on real events, in 1861 Elizabeth Packard had a disagreement about a church doctrine with her husband. At the time, Illinois law said a husband could commit his wife to an asylum on the grounds of insanity without her consent or a public hearing. Furious, Elizabeth’s husband claimed she was mentally impaired and could not care for her children. Follow Elizabeth Packard on her journey as she spends the next three years in an asylum.
“Mrs. Packard” will be performing at Oklahoma City University on Nov. 5-8.
Since 2013, Welcome to the Night Vale has toured with guest stars, musical guests and live music from Disparition and Cecil — performing unheard scripts that complement and enhance the constantly evolving narrative of the podcast. For nearly two years they have played sold-out rooms in the U.S., Canada and Europe.
Welcome to the Night Vale will be held at the Rose State College on Nov. 6 at 8 p.m.
The classic Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, “Oklahoma!” is coming back to the big screen. For it’s 60th anniversary the movie will air in select theaters for a special screening with a pre-recorded performance before the show by Oklahoma native Kristin Chenoweth.
“Oklahoma!” stars Gordon MacRae, Gloria Grahame and Gene Nelson. The movie will be back in theaters on Nov. 1.

“Brooklyn” stars Saoirse Ronan, Domhnall Gleeson and Michael Zegen. The movie hits theaters starting Nov. 4.
James Bond is back. A mysterious message from Bond’s past sends him on a mission to uncover a secret organization. While M battles political forces to keep the secret service alive, Bond goes on a mission to discover the deceit that will reveal the truth behind “Spectre.”
“Spectre” stars Daniel Craig, Christoph Walz, Ralph Fiennes and Andrew Scott. The movie goes to theaters Nov. 6.
Good grief, Peanuts is back and this time it is taking the big screen. Snoopy goes on his greatest mission as he and his team go to the skies to defeat their arch-nemesis. Meanwhile, Charlie Brown begins his own quest to get back home.
“The Peanuts Movie” stars the vocal talents of Kristin Chenoweth, Francesca Capaldi, Madisyn Shipman and Noah Schnapp.
