Social service clubs on campus competed in various activities throughout homecoming week for points including: CANstruction, trivia, OC Games, parade floats, banners and attendance at each event.
The Homecoming court, which consisted of class representatives and king and queen nominees, was announced during a coronation on Saturday in between the men’s and women’s basketball games.
Freshman class representatives were Tyler Clark and Ashley Holland. Sophomore class representatives were Luke Mawhirther and Laine Weatherford. Junior class representatives were Forrest Whiddon and Jade George. Senior class representatives were Kyle Lair and August Cronin.
Homecoming king nominees included Bradley Cowdrey, Jake Whiteley and Hunter Culpepper. Homecoming queen nominees included Jessica Thompson, Hannah McKenzie and Michaela Lawson. Jake Whiteley and Hannah McKenzie were crowned the 2015 Fairytale Homecoming king and queen.
The women of Theta Theta Theta were named the overall winners of Homecoming this year. In second were the men of Chi Lambda Phi and third place was awarded to the women of Gamma Rho.
The men of Chi Lambda Phi were awarded best float, “CANstruction” and overall champions of the OC Games. The women of Iota Kappa Phi were awarded Best Banner for their illustration of Humpty Dumpty.
Benson Hall won the office decorating competition with a “John and the Beanstalk” theme.
At the women’s basketball game halftime, Risa Forrester was selected to kiss a pig based on receiving the most donations throughout the week during the freshmen class’ fundraiser for The Haven in Zambia, Africa. The other potential figures on campus that were in the running to kiss the pig included President John deSteiguer, SGA President Zekeriah McNeal, Dean of Students Neil Arter and others.
