Black excellence deserves to be celebrated every day, as do the accomplishments from all minorities across the nation. Not just this month, but especially this month, let us offer just a small fraction of our time to reflect on the resilience of the black community.
It is evident there is a massive audience for true crime entertainment. Within the past few years, producers and directors have jumped at the opportunity to rehash old, grisly content to create new cultural sensations. Yet, this shared compulsion to consume real-life brutality raises concern.
Students work hard to push themselves personally, professionally and academically. Many students take out loans to put themselves through this prestigious university. Why should they have to continue to endure another nonessential expense?
If we want to fight for the right to life, then we better be willing to open our hearts and homes. If not, then we are the worst kind of hypocrites.
More and more, Christianity becomes dulled in the monotonous rumble of what is “acceptable” in modern society. Megachurches, pastoral fluff and “feel-good” messages have morphed into what we call the Christian faith. This is the Christianity America so dearly loves. But, it is not the Gospel.
