Lambda Chi Zeta

After a close loss to Gamma Rho in the softball semifinals and a less close loss in the flag football finals, it seemed as if Lambda could not defeat Gamma in anything. That was until Anna Strother took things into her own hands on the volleyball court, acing the final with an array of kills, assists and saves that boosted Lambda over Gamma.

Strother did more than just lead on the court, however. She also coached several other clubs throughout the season, even leading the freshmen women’s team to third. Lambda still has work to do to get back into the all-sports race, but with Strother around, don’t count them out.

1. What is it like being out there on the court winning the championship for Lambda?

It’s such a blessing to play with Lambda. I love volleyball, and I love these girls, and I’m just so thankful. I just want to give God glory for that win.

2. Lambda had some rough playoff runs during softball and flag football. What is it like knowing Gamma is beatable and that the race for all sports is far from over?

It’s crazy. I think we all just worked really hard, and we worked together.

3. Now that this semester’s intramurals are over, what are you looking forward to playing next semester?

I’m gonna be honest, I’ve never played soccer before. But I think that’s gonna be really fun. And I love basketball too, so it’ll be great.

Kappa Sigma Tau

Another individual sport, another championship won by a Kappa member. Steven Porter stepped up in a big way, fighting through the bracket to finally come out on top. Like Lambda, Kappa has their work cut out for them next semester. But with Porter around, expect Kappa to be a favorite in the pool doubles tournament.

1. What is it like going through the bracket, making it to the finals, and then pulling out the victory?

It feels great knowing I could pull out the win despite my fellow brothers in Kappa getting really unlucky and being eliminated in the first round. It feels great to pull it out for them and not have all of us go out on the first round.

2. You mentioned your brothers got unlucky in the first round. How did that pressure affect you knowing you were all Kappa had left?

It was nerve-racking. But it is what it is, and you got to do what you got to do.

3. What are some personal goals you have for intramurals next semester?

Win basketball and win pool doubles.
