On Dec. 11, 2021, Oklahoma Christian University President John deSteiguer sent an email announcing the discontinuation of breakout chapels and the Ethos program.
The Ethos program was introduced in fall 2014 as a supplement to the University’s traditional chapel system. The new program allowed students to earn chapel credit in five categories: worship, servanthood, discovery, discipleship and community. Students could obtain chapel credit at traditional Big Chapel, a variety of breakout chapels, devos, special lectures and missions opportunities.
Up until December 2021, over 70 alternative chapel options were available to students.
